sorry to here you gave up the Savage. I've got 34k
on my bike and so far I haven't heard any pinging
like you just described. I hope that it is not a
characteristic of the bike! I'm not having any mechanical
difficulties yet. I hope it's due to changing the
oil regularly and using synthetic blend.
